YouTube is testing a new add-on to its ‘Super Thank You’ creator donation process that will allow people who purchase a Super Thank You donation to add a customized message instead of a previously automatically generated Super Thank You comment.
Super Thank You, added by YouTube in July last year, allows users to make quick donations to their favorite creators in the app by purchasing Super Thank You animation at one of four prices (between $ 2 and $ 50). When you assign a Super Thanks video, the animation is displayed on the screen.
With this, the automated ‘Thank you!’ a comment has also been added to the comment flow, with a recognizable color indicating your donation.
So far, ‘Thank you!’ was the only message that could be included, but now YouTube is testing a new option that will allow users to include a custom message with their donation.
As YouTube explains:
“We are experimenting with customizable comments for Super Thanks, which will allow fans to have more meaningful interactions with the creators.”
YouTube says this option is currently in the experimental phase, so only some viewers will be able to customize their comments on Super Chat, but wants to introduce it more widely throughout the year. YouTube also wants to expand Super Chat to more creators.
On the other hand, YouTube has also added some new data collection and management options that could help maximize the value of your YouTube effort.
First, YouTube has added a new option that allows channel managers to export a list of their members to a .CSV file, providing another way to extend the reach of audiences beyond YouTube itself. The data available is limited, but it provides another way to expand your process and improve your connection with your YouTube audience.
YouTube has also added a new integration with IFTTT that allows channel managers to set up member data collection to provide them with benefits and better boost membership.
In fact, there are a number of YouTube integrations available through IFTTT that could significantly improve your channel management and audience engagement. More IFTTT applets for YouTube can be viewed here.
All in all, these updates are quite small, but each of them has a specific and valuable purpose, which could make them very useful for certain creators and channels. More data is always better, while customized Super Chat messages add another element – which will also cause abuse. But in any case, it could add some more considerations to your process.
