What to expect at CES 2022

CES is an event to follow if you like to follow technology news and like to see all the new advances in technology. It is a place where companies present their latest products and technological advances, as well as concepts beyond this world that we can drool over.

In 2022 some live events are happening again for those hoping to see for themselves, and maybe even touch and experience some of these tech showcases in real life. There are also many virtual events, including our main sponsor CES 2022, Lenovo. Thank you! You can follow Lenovo CES announcements on the official Lenovo CES 2022 hub and on Twitter with #LenovoCES hashtag, Facebook, Instagram and Youtube.

In addition, if you are wondering what is in store for CES 2022, here is our summary of what you could expect from one of the largest technology exhibitions in the world, which should currently run from January 5 to January 8, 2022.

Every year at CES we see car manufacturers show off their latest car models. As we see an increasing focus on electric cars and cars with self-driving capabilities, we expect to see some examples of the progress that car manufacturers have made in this field.

CES is also a place where some car manufacturers show concepts of how they imagine cars to look in the future, ranging from conceptual technology to conceptual design, all of which should prove quite interesting and exciting if you love cars.

TVs and displays

Without a mistake, almost every CES event sees companies such as Samsung, LG, Sony and Panasonic (to name just a few) showcasing their latest advances in display technology. What is interesting is that over the years, many of these concepts have actually been translated into reality.

Take for example flexible screens which were a wild concept when first introduced but have since resulted in phones with collapsible screens, TVs with screens that can be rolled up and hidden when not in use and much more. We can probably expect to see screens that are even thinner than ever, capable of producing more vivid colors, more energy efficient, etc.

Home entertainment systems

If you’re looking for a new set of speakers to go with your brand new TV, CES certainly won’t disappoint. We’ve seen many companies launch new speaker systems and home entertainment systems at CES, and CES 2022 shouldn’t be too different. If nothing else, we expect to see more smart speakers from more traditional speaker manufacturers.

We’re talking about speakers that come with digital assistants built into them, like Amazon’s Alexa and Google Assistant. We also expect to see more wireless speakers that will support features like direct streaming or the ability to play wirelessly using protocols like Apple’s AirPlay 2.

Don’t be surprised if we also see a flood of announcements from headphone manufacturers eager to showcase their latest portable audio technology.

Smart Home

Smart home gadgets are also another popular genre at CES, especially with the world becoming more connected. In the past, we’ve seen all kinds of smart devices launched at CES, starting with smart home appliances like ovens that can be controlled using your smartphone or smart speaker, home security cameras, smart toilets, refrigerators that can remind you to buy food when finally, video doorbells, smart lighting and more.

Digital health

Also somewhat loosely connected to smart homes, the digital healthcare space is also one to look out for. In the past, we have seen devices like smart bathroom mats that can measure you and help you keep track of your weight.

We’ve also seen devices like smart toothbrushes that can help you brush your teeth more efficiently, and also the playfulness of the process to make kids more eager to keep their teeth clean.

We wouldn’t be surprised if companies also announced new wearables and fitness trackers designed to keep them in shape.

What would CES be without new computers, right? If you are looking forward to new desktops and laptops that will be powered by Intel’s new 12th generation Core processors, but also MediaTek and Qualcomm PC chips. CES is a place where many companies use the opportunity to discover new computer systems that will eventually be released throughout the year.

We expect to see new laptops from common suspects such as Lenovo, Dell, Acer, ASUS, Samsung and LG, and more, whether you’re looking for a cheap and portable laptop, or a desktop system for work and school, or powerful equipment for games, there should be something for everyone.

Smartphones and tablets

While MWC is probably the best place for smartphone makers to announce new mobile devices, some are taking the opportunity at CES to discover some upcoming mobile devices. Some might even use CES to discover the concepts they’re working on, some of which could eventually become a reality, some of which are cool enough where we hope that will become a reality.

CES 2022 will be the first live event to take place after organizers somehow took a break earlier this year. If you plan to attend the event itself, you will have many things to see, touch and experience, but if you do not attend, do not worry because we will provide you with coverage of some of the best and best things we will come across at the show, so stay with us!
