While Android dominates market share, users spent less on the Google Play Store than on the App Store. During the year, Google Play registered $ 47.9 billion in revenue.

Following the adoption and spending boom for both mobile games and non-gaming apps in 2020, market trends began to normalize in 2021 as consumer spending is projected to reach approximately $ 133 billion on in-app purchases, premium apps and subscriptions in the App Store. and Google Play, according to Sensor Tower Store Intelligence. This represents a 19.7 percent increase over the previous year from $ 111.1 billion in 2020, almost reflecting a 21 percent year-on-year increase in consumer spending in 2019.

The research states that the growth is the result of the normalization of the market after last year’s influences of COVID-19, so it is possible to imagine that the results will be even better in 2022.
