Twitter is testing new tools for creating columns in TweetDeck

Twitter is still testing new improvements for TweetDeck, designed to make it easy to create columns for different applications.

As you can see here, the new process, available to users in the TweetDeck preview set, includes tools for creating platform columns in the main screen, as opposed to tapping the ‘+’ symbol in the left control space.

Column options have also been expanded, with new functionality listed in the creation tools.

Search columns are also easier to generate:

It’s easier to create a search column that shows * exactly * what you want to see right away. By clicking “Add Column” and then “Search”, you will have access to advanced search filters as you create your column.

Finally, Twitter adding more list detection options to tools for your columns, providing another way to take advantage of user-created lists.

These are some handy updates that will provide more ways to make better use of TweetDeck in your process. The platform is especially valuable for tracking tweets, and with more, simpler ways to create columns based on keywords and lists, which will make it easier to track different mentions of tweets in one place.

Although it is currently only available in preview mode, which is currently the case available only with an invitation from Twitter, issued to select users in the United States, Canada, and Australia. However, you can check this for yourself by temporarily gaining access by editing the HTML code on the web page.

Twitter has been working to improve TweetDeck over the past year and it looks like these new add-ons will soon arrive in the main app. But if you can’t wait, you can now check out the tools – while users in the test group can try them out in the app.
