TikTok is testing a new “company registration” option to confirm business information in the application

TikTok is taking the next steps in growing e-commerce with a new one possibility of company registration this will allow brands to list their business category on their profile, while allowing them early access to new business functions.

As you can see in this screenshot, which was shared by a social media expert Matt Navarra (over Yasser Massod), some TikTok business profile managers can now access the new business registration option in their Business Suite settings.

As TikTok explains, this is not the same as a verification badge, in providing an extra level of security and authority about your business identity. But by registering your business through this process, which requires users to enter various additional company information, you can then display your business category on your TikTok profile, which will provide another way for TikTok to collect business user data while categorizing pages in different segments in the application.

This could help in the next phase of his e-commerce inventory, better highlighting different jobs and showing them to relevant users. It could also help you communicate what your business is about and make it easier to encourage purchases from profile visitors.

eCommerce is the next big step for TikTok. With a short video that provides fewer opportunities to place ads, TikTok should provide alternative means of generating revenue for creators, so that they can continue to publish their videos, instead of going to YouTube or Instagram, which have more established revenue sharing systems.

In-stream shopping has been a key avenue on this front for Douyin, the Chinese version of the app, which now generates most of its revenue from direct in-app purchases. TikTok wants to follow suit, with the expansion of its eCommerce list, as well as live shopping, Shopify integration and various other trade-related projects that are now largely working on a growing video application.

Company registration is a minor element in this regard, but the option to share your business category adds an extra level of authority to your presence in the app, while better communicating your offers to customers.

We have asked TikTok for more details on the option and what the early access element means, and we will update this post if / when we receive a response.
