TikTok announces fundraising initiatives to give $ 7 million in direct donations to mission-led organizations on Tuesday

TikTok has announced a new live fundraising series as part of the expanded Giving Tuesday campaign, which will also allow the platform to award $ 7 million in direct donations to various organizations.

As TikTok explains:

At GivingTuesday (November 30), known as the world’s largest generosity day, we were pleased to join our global TikTok community and introduce #GivingSzn, a celebration of generosity and goodwill with LIVE programs from creators and nonprofits, including fundraising and community gathering moments around the world. ”

Various high-profile creators will take part in the opening event, including Matthew & Ryan, Arturo Allende and Spencer West. But this will only be the first stream – as it seeks to help as many charities as possible ahead of the busy holiday season, TikTok will continue to host more live donation-focused broadcasts.during December, which could provide a major boost to charities that will no doubt be stretched to their limits in the coming weeks.

In addition, TikTok itself will donate $ 7 million to various mission-led organizations around the world, “to support the goals our community cares most about.”

“Part of the donation will be given on behalf of TikTok creators around the world to non-profit organizations of their choice. We will also donate $ 1 million in advertising credits to support global nonprofits in their year-end fundraising efforts. ”

TikTok has actively contributed to many charitable goals, including $ 250 million in financing front line assistance workers fighting COVID-19,, and $ 200,000 as part of his #CreativityForGood initiative, which he launched earlier this year.

In addition, TikTok says many individual users have also raised significant funds for various charities through their in-app giving tools.

In 2021, almost 75,000 donations were given at TikTok in support of various organizations and goals globally, such as the fight against hunger, support for humanitarian efforts as well as the promotion of health and well-being. TickTok creators such as @ghosthoney, @cristiandennis and @valentinebrothers have also been at the forefront of raising awareness of some of the world’s most important issues.

It’s nice to see that TikTok puts these contributions at the center and incorporates them into its expanding business. And given the popularity and impact of the platform right now, these latest initiatives will no doubt provide an important boost to the support and assistance groups that will be needed more than ever this holiday season.

An added benefit for TikTok is the institution of common behavior, with each transaction helping to make it more common, which could also help in wider e-commerce.

But the main focus is on fundraising, and these new trends could play a key role in raising awareness.

The first TikTok LIVE ‘Global Give Back’ stream will take place November 30 at 11:00 PT / 14:00 ET on @tiktokforgood account.
