The 2021 MacBook Pro includes an SD slot, but cards don’t insert all the way into the notebook. But that’s not a problem with Transcend’s JetDrive Lite 330 – it’s smaller than the standard SD card so it sits flush in the slot.

Once inserted, the card acts like any other drive. And data transfers are fast enough for Time Machine backups.

JetDrive Lite 330 fits completely into 2021 MacBook Pro

It’s not safe to carry a 2021 MacBook Pro with a standard SD inserted because about half of the card projects out of the slot. Transcend has an answer.

“With a flush profile that’s tailor-made for each MacBook model, Transcend’s JetDrive Lite 330 expansion cards are designed to seamlessly integrate with your MacBook, blending in perfectly without any awkward protrusion,” promises the accessory maker.

The card’s maximum read speed is 95 MBps, while the max write speed is 75 MBps. Real-world performance varies, but Transcend promises it’s fast enough to use this accessory to make Time Machine backups.

The JetDrive Lite 330 is available in 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB capacities. Prices range from $ 35.99 to $ 89.99.

The 14-inch or 16-inch MacBook Pro released at the end of 2021 is the first in years with a built-in SD reader. And the JetDrive Lite 330 fits it, as well as 13-inch MacBook Pro models from 2012 to 2015. But making the card sit flush with the slot requires a specific shape, and it is not compatible with other MacBooks with SD card slots. But Transcend makes cards for those who have one of those other models.
