The upcoming Apple TV + series “Bad Monkey” rounds out the cast.
As Variety reported, Michelle Monaghan, Jodie Turner-Smith and Meredith Hagne have been added to the cast of the upcoming drama series. Marcos Siega also signed a contract for executive producer and directed the first episode.
The series, written by “Ted Lasso” creator Bill Lawrence, will star Vince Vaughn. “Bad Monkey” will tell the story of Andrew Yancy, a detective who, after being demoted to a restaurant inspector, is returned to a world of greed and corruption.
The trio of actresses join the previously announced main series of Vince Vaughn in the show, written by Bill Lawrence, co-creator of the film “Ted Lasso”. Based on Carl Hiaasen’s 2013 novel of the same name, the series tells the story of Andrew Yancy (Vaughn), a former detective who is demoted to restaurant inspector in South Florida. A severed arm found by a fishing tourist draws Yancy into a world of greed and corruption that decimates the country and the environment in both Florida and the Bahamas. And yes, there is a monkey.
Monaghan (“The Road”, “The Real Detective”) plays Bonnie, a mysterious woman trapped in a violent, loveless marriage. She complicates Yancy’s life both personally and professionally as a secret from her past.
Turner-Smith (“Queen & Slim”, “Anne Boleyn”) plays the Queen of Dragons / Gracie. She is both appreciated and feared on Andros while practicing Obeah along with her controversial grandmother.
Hagner (“Search Party”, “Vacation Friends”) will play Eve. Yancy interrogates her about her dead husband and he thinks she may know more than she says.
In addition to “Bad Monkey” and “Ted Lasso,” Lawrence is also working on “Shrinking,” a new comedy series for Apple’s streaming service starring Jason Segel.
