The U.S. Department of Labor is investigating Apple over allegations that the company has repeatedly retaliated against employees who have expressed concern over the harassment.

Ashley Gjovik, a former Apple engineering manager who spoke about the hostile work environment, confirmed that she had filed a complaint with whistleblowers in an attempt to seek justice and protect other Apple employees.

The US Department of Labor is investigating Apple

Gjovik first filed a complaint against Apple with the U.S. National Labor Committee in August. In it, she described in detail the alleged unfair work practices and how Apple responded when questions arose with other staff members.

In September, Gjovik revealed that she was fired by Apple after she publicly expressed her concern. Since then, she talks about the problems at Apple and the treatment she had while she was employed by the company.

Gjovik confirmed this week CNET that she had filed her complaint with the U.S. Department of Labor, which will investigate. “I want to make sure the world sees that even the world’s largest company is not immune to liability.”

Gjovik is not the only one

Gjovik is one of many Apple employees who have filed complaints about harassment, unfair treatment and uncertain conditions. In recent months, the “AppleToo” movement has been launched, calling on the company to make changes.

Back in September, Apple’s chief of staff, Deirdre O’Brien, encouraged employees who have concerns and problems to talk to their managers and their “business partner.”

Apple is “deeply committed to creating and maintaining a positive and inclusive workplace,” it said Financial Times. The company also insisted that it “takes all concerns seriously” and investigates all complaints.
