The new MacBook pros are now starting to ship to customers before coming out on Tuesday

Ahead of Tuesday’s release, the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro are now starting to ship to customers who were lucky enough to get an earlier delivery date, as the availability of new Macs remains low.

The new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro began a complete redesign of the product, the first since its controversial 2016 overhaul. With the 2021 redesign, Apple reintroduced ports on the MacBook Pro, such as the HDMI and SD card slot, and returned MagSafe. The new MacBook Pro is also powered by M1 Pro or ‌M1‌ Max chips, the first Apple silicone chips designed for professional machines.

While the new MacBook Pro is now starting to ship to customers before launching on Tuesday, those who have yet to place their orders or have done so shortly after pre-orders are announced should prepare for the long wait. For current Mac users who aren’t getting a new Mac this week, there’s still something to look forward to as macOS Monterey will be launched on Monday, October 25th.

Apple opened pre-orders for the completely redesigned MacBook Pro after its “Unleashed” event last week. Within minutes of the announcement of pre-orders, delivery dates had already slipped by weeks, and in some cases by more than a month. The 14-inch model, at the time of writing, shows at least 3-4 weeks for delivery, with all 16- inch models show 4-5 weeks. Accurate delivery date estimates will vary depending on location, configuration, and more.

In the weeks leading up to the holiday season, in the prime time for Apple, many of the company’s products are still facing long delivery times. The latest iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro models, and even the Apple Watch Series 7, show delivery weeks, potentially affecting shopping plans for customers ’holidays.
