Welcome back to another exciting weekly review of everything Apple has. And boy, that’s sure to be exciting. Why? Because we have an Apple iPhone 13 event in just two days! Let’s get started!
First of all, it’s definitely given: Apple’s September event means new iPhones, and this year it’s the iPhone 13, which will undoubtedly be the next best iPhone. From what we know so far, based on rumors, it looks like we will have four sizes, just like last year: iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. The mini will be the same 5.4-inch as the iPhone 12 mini, the standard iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro will be 6.1-inch, and the Max will once again be a magnificent 6.7-inch. While some of us may switch from Pro to a standard or even mini phone this year, I will definitely opt for the iPhone 13 Pro because, well, I want the best camera without sacrificing usability in terms of device size (sorry, Max fans, I just can’t do that do). After all, my baby is coming in November, so I’m going to need a nice camera for all those spontaneous moments I want to capture!

While we’re on the subject of the iPhone 13 Pro, there have been rumors of new colors and storage options, and I have to say I might be disappointed or pleasantly surprised on Tuesday. For mini and standard iPhone 13 we look at possible black, blue, purple, pink, white and PRODUCTION (RED) colors. However, for the Pro line we can only get four: black, silver, gold and bronze.
Honestly, what the hell? We’ve talked about this several times before, but for God’s sake, Apple, why can’t professional devices have color? I’m not even a fan of bronze in general, and the renders I’ve seen don’t make this new color very appealing to me, which is a shame. I have a mid-green iPhone 11 Pro and a Pacific blue iPhone 12 Pro, and these were great colors that breathed new life into the Pro line instead of the boring options of black, silver and gold (I still want my pink gold back). Besides, I feel like gold and bronze are pretty similar in terms of family, so I really hope bronze isn’t the real thing. Or at least make it more orange or even more pink instead of, well, awful? I would love a pink iPhone, but I won’t sacrifice a better camera just to have my beloved pink. I guess in the end it won’t matter because I’ll just hit the holster on my iPhone 13 Pro and announce it in a day. But still, sometimes I use clear cases, so I would like a color that I really like. Seriously, why does Apple think Pro devices should only be available in dull, soft colors? And professionals like to have good colors.
The other half of that report was the possibility of fewer storage options. For the mini we may only have 64 GB and 128 GB. The standard iPhone 13 could have 128 GB and 256 GB, as well as the Pro. But the Pro Max could get 256GB and 512GB. I look at these numbers with a sinking feeling – I mean, I had a feeling that the 1TB option wouldn’t actually be a thing (but wouldn’t that be nice?), But really, cutting out the 512GB option for the standard size Pro? I hope this is not the case as I currently have a 256GB iPhone 12 Pro and am running out of storage with all the photos and games I have on it. I was hoping to get at least 512GB this year because I would be shooting a lot of pictures for babies in the coming years, so I needed more space. I’d rather not have to go the Max route just for storage. I guess we’ll find out on Tuesday, but I’m seriously keeping my fingers crossed here.
Other iPhone 13 reports this week included a better camera and battery with no price increase, but I don’t think this surprises anyone. We expect upgrades like this every year, so we just point out the obvious. Although, it might be nice to know how to keep the same price as last year, although I personally didn’t expect a price jump.
But honestly, who cares about the iPhone 13 when we have rumors about the iPhone 14 that we can talk about? Yes, although the iPhone 13 has yet to be announced, there was a leak of information about the iPhone 14 for 2022 last week. I mean, why not, right? According to Jon Prosser, the iPhone 14 should lose the comma and possibly have a new titanium design. I know we’re a year away from this, but if any part of this is true, well, I’ll be one lucky camper. I’ve never been a big fan, and honestly, I’d rather design a hole in the front screen every day of the week. This could even lead to a Touch ID or Face ID sensor below the screen, which we had hoped to see this year, but it seems to be failing. I’m also interested in the titanium design – I enjoy the matte look of the stainless steel titanium more (I’m still rocking the titanium Apple Watch Series 5) so I wonder how that will translate to the iPhone. Would that make it a little easier? I guess we’ll find out next September.
Other things we expect to see on Tuesday include the Apple Watch Series 7 (but don’t expect new health sensors, as it may come with the 8 Series) and AirPods 3. I’m considering the Apple Watch Series 7 if it wins ‘There won’t be any delays, but it seems to be a little vague this year. We will see. For AirPods, I’ll stick to AirPods Pro 2 instead.
What are you hoping for at the Apple event on Tuesday? Will you upgrade to iPhone 13? I’m seriously excited, even if I don’t like the colors for the Pro.
Until next time!
