Like last year a special holiday before him, Lucasfilm and Lego latest special shifts outside the canon to determine the reason for the season, immersing oneself in it a trio of spooky stories which revolves around the dark side of the artifacts. Much like the peculiarity before him, it is best when he neglects his non-canonicity to really look at the relationship from the trilogy below.
Although its nature is an anthology — three stories loosely themed around Poe Dameron that crashed on Mustafar and retreated into verification Darth Vader Castle there, in the midst of a transformation into a new hotel, because, hello Walt Disney-It means yes Scary stories it is not so narratively profound as Lego Star Wars special holidays managed to be. But among his jokes and jokes, one of their own more interesting stories deals with a similar approach to the most interesting characters of the sequel. That Rey and Finn are at heart Special holidays, then it is Kylo Ren – or rather Ben Solo himself – who has the most interesting time Scary stories, specifically in the first of three stories, “The Lost Boy. ”
Riff on a beloved vampire movie Lost boys (all the way to a gag that feels like it ‘s coming out of nowhere with a shirtless Bith who will 1 c at Kloo Horn a certain oiled saxophonist), the short film is set in and around the newly formed Jedi Temple of Luke Skywalker. Luke (voice of Eric Bauza) tries to train all his students equally, much to the chagrin of teenager Ben (Matthew Wood), who is obviously more advanced in his understanding of the Force, given his lineage in the Chosen family. It’s a quick point of frustration between youncle inEffey: Luke doesn’t want to hear Ben’s complaints that other students are holding him back, and Ben doesn’t know about Luke’s wisdom that patience is a virtue and that his arrogance over his abilities could push him down a dangerous path.
All of this is called into question when the grumpy Ben, who visited a nearby outpost after training, crosses with the Knights of the Rhine and their enigmatic leader (in a voice Christian Slater, of all people). Rehn immediately promises Ben exactly what Luke doesn’t want: power, freedom and above all, that he will listen to him. That, and some shiny black dresses and a nice helmet, but it was heard that Ben craved more than anything, something we know was the case in the actual current canonicity of the event in progress to The force is waking up. We know how Ben felt about the parents who sent him to Luke’s academy, about how Luke’s attempts eventually saved his nephew caused self-doubt it would push him away forever. “The Lost Boy” also conveys all of these swirling frustrations, even if it does so as it turns the Knights of Ren into something more like a fraternity biker gang rather than a wandering group of murderous dark parties.
Where the short story deviates from minimal details, we know how Ben fell into the temptations of the dark side affecting the feeling that the young man has not been heard. The “Lost Boy” culminates when the Knights and Ren try to put pressure on him Lighthe lowered Luke’s temple to its foundations, and the boy tries to explain that it is not to want to ruin himncle’s work, he just wanted to get to it and understand it. In a brief duel with Ren later, as Ben tries to defend the temple from heavy fire, the former knight is defeated (ironically, Ben finally listens to Luke’s lessons). But things still go the way we know them: by usurping Ren’s place, Ben becomes Kylo, pushed away by an uncle who can’t understand why Ben feels isolated and ignored.
It can mostly be played for a few gags, and it may not be part of what we know in the text which is the character of Ben Solo in the sequel to the trilogy. But for a show about animated Lego mini figures, “The Lost Boy” is a story that still manages to guess something about the tragedy of Lei and Han’s son in a way that sounds resonant regardless of its canonicity. But also, that works let Bith without a shirt play Kloo Horn, which is great on top of everything.
