Apple TV + has announced that the upcoming animated show about coming of age “Harriet the Spy” will debut on the platform on Friday, November 19th.
Set in the 1960s, based on Louise Fitzhugh’s novel of the same name for children, “Spy Harriet” records the adventures of “open and always curious 11-year-old Harriet M. Welsch”.
“More than anything, Harriet wants to be a writer, and to be a good writer, she’ll have to know everything. And knowing everything means she’ll have to spy on everything!” Apple writes about the show.
In the series starring Beanie Feldstein as Harriet and Jane Lynch as Ole Golly, Harriet’s nanny “no nonsense”. Also performing will be Lacey Chabert, Kimberly Brooks, Crispin Freeman, Gray Griffin, Bumper Robinson and Charlie Schlatter.
“Spy Harriett” for Apple is produced by The Jim Henson Company. It will also be written by executive producer Will McRobb, and Sidney Clifton is the producer. Courtney Barnett wrote and performed the original themed song.
Lisa Henson, Halle Stanford, John W. Hyde, Nancy Steingard and Wendy Moss-Klein serve as executive producers. Teresa Kelton is a co-executive producer. On behalf of Titmouse Animation Studios, Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski and Ben Kalina are also executive producers.
The series joins a growing production that is part of a partnership between The Jim Henson Company and Apple TV +. Other upcoming shows include the long-awaited relaunch of the classic “Fraggle Rock” series, as well as some related specials.
