The 27-inch iMac Pro could have M1 Pro / Max chips, ProMotion screen; Launch of the first half of 2022

Apple announced the 24-inch M1 iMac earlier this year, followed by the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro that was launched earlier this month. The company is still working on a 27-inch iMac (Pro) that should be launched in the first half of 2022. More details about this machine have now surfaced online.

Leaker @dylandkt says Apple will use the M1 Pro / Max chips found in the new MacBook Pro on the 27-inch iMac Pro. The base model of the machine will have a 120Hz mini-LED ProMotion screen, 16GB of unified memory and 512GB of storage space. Dark bezels surround the screen, with an HDMI, SD card and multiple USB-C ports located on the back.

No previous Apple iMac model had an HDMI port. Dylan says Apple will include one on the 27-inch iMac Pro for “screen compatibility reasons. Most TVs and external screens have HDMI. It’s just a convenience factor. ”

The design of the new iMac Pro will be similar to the 24-inch iMac and Pro Display XDR.

Although Apple has tested Face ID on the new iMac Pro, it is unclear whether this feature will enter the final model. The starting price of the new iMac Pro will be around $ 2,000, and the release is planned for the first half of 2022. Like the 24-inch iMac, Apple will offer a power brick with a built-in Ethernet port.

It is assumed that the upcoming 27-inch iMac Pro will replace Intel’s 27-inch iMac in Apple’s line. As for the name ‘Pro’, it will help Apple distinguish a 27-inch iMac from a regular 24-inch model.
