‘Ted Lasso’ stars Toheeb Jimoh and Cristo Fernández discuss the growth of the character of the second season and more

Spoilers ahead – you might miss this if you haven’t finished the second season!

With the hit Apple TV + show Ted Lasso now that they have finished their second season, stars Toheeb Jimoh and Cristo Fernández have talked about how their characters have grown over the year – as well as what we hope to expect from the third season of 2022.

In an interview with Deadline, Toheeb Jimoh talked about his character, Sam Obisanya, and the growth he went through during the second season.

Sam has grown so much since the first season he just came from Nigeria when he misses home and he’s not quite sure where he fits, “Toheeb told Deadline.” Then he meets Ted [Jason Sudeikis] and offers all this positive reinforcement that brings him to the second season of both Jamie and Roy [Brett Goldstein] they left. So, from the premiere episode of the series to the premiere of Season 2, there has already been so much growth and we see how it has matured. “

But this is the second season in which Sam is really coming out of his shell, thanks in part to the upcoming romance.

He continues, “What I liked most about this season is that we can see the other side of Sam. He’s one of the most emotionally mature characters on the show starting to reflect the way he handles his romance with Rebecca – and he’s doing it all, and his heart is open, which is one of the hardest things. He’s brave enough not to build walls which was something really interesting to explore this season. “

As for Dani Rojas Cristo Fernández, the actor says that while it’s great to hear people recite the infamous phrase “Football is life,” the character is more than that.

“I’m working to show our fans who Dani is and that he’s more than a slogan,” Fernández says in Spanish. “Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind at all when people say to me, ‘Football is life.’ We’re all good until they say, ‘Football is life.’ I’m like, ‘Come on guys, we repeat that so many times! You can’t go wrong with that part.’ I’m kidding, but I’m proud of how this character and his joy resonated to such an extent. I hope people will apply Dania’s outlook on life to whatever they want and help them lift their spirits. “

As for the third season, which is likely to arrive in August 2022 or around August, Fernández has high hopes for Denmark.

He continued: “I’m really proud of Season 2 and Dani’s new bow as he develops and becomes an increasingly three-dimensional character. That last moment in the finale where he achieves the goal and sees that the dog was so full … a circle for him. That. it really represented to me how often things happen and we don’t understand why much later – it was a crucial moment for him and for me on a personal level. “

The whole working term has a lot more to do with what we could see from the third season next year – big Ted Lasso fans should definitely read!
