Spotify podcast subscriptions open in 33 new countries

The popular music streaming app Spotify is all present in the world of podcasts and has just announced that it is transferring its podcast subscription to 33 new countries.

More people than ever can now pay podcast creators directly for their work, and creators can mark content as content only for subscribers. People in 33 new countries will now be able to pay to listen to that content, including those countries; Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia , Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Yahoo! Finance also points out that Canada, Germany, Austria and France will come online next week.

Podcasts are fast becoming a new battlefield for companies like Spotify and Apple, with the latter offering its own podcast subscription offer via the Podcasts app on iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple Watches.

Spotify has also announced a new multi-year deal with Bad Robot Audio that could bring a bunch of content to the service.
