Shazam, Apple’s music recognition app, has been updated to version 15.0, and the app can now spend more time listening to songs that are harder to identify.

Available as an update via the App Store on Wednesday, notes on the Shazam version 15.0 update explain that the milestone adds to the change in the way the feature works. Now the app can spend more time listening to a particular song.

“Shazam now finds more songs by trying harder, longer,” the notes advise. “Touch Shazam to try it out!”

Usually Shazam will recognize a song within seconds, but will listen to it longer if he cannot fully hear or discern the song being played. After a predetermined period of time, the app will give up trying to listen to the song, which usually forces users to try recognizing again, along with moving their iPhone closer to the speaker.

It is very likely that by increasing the time in which Shazam can potentially listen to a song, there will be more sound to access Shazam’s service, giving him a better chance of getting a result.

Although the update applies to the mobile application, it is unclear whether the same update applies to the version available within the Control Center.

The app is free to download from the App Store, is compatible with all iPhones and iPads running iOS 13.0 and iPadOS 13.0 or later, and weighs 34.2 megabytes.

Bought by Apple in 2018 for $ 400 million, Shazam received periodic updates for bug fixes and performance improvements. The last big change happened in September, with a refresh of the offline results page, as well as added support for iOS 15 and watchOS 8.
