Setapp’s suite of apps has transformed my productivity, finances and creativity

By Unique Michael

Like you, I’m constantly trying to find new ways to use my Apple devices. This usually means trying out new apps, but it’s not always clear which apps are worth installing and which are a waste of time and money.

Instead of random application attempts, there is an option called “Spotify for Mac applications”. This unique and inexpensive subscription service gives you access to more than 200 popular and respected Mac applications that you can download and try out.

This option is Setapp and you can currently save 36% on a one-year subscription.

The usual struggle with productivity

I downloaded a lot of bad apps in my time. Free apps are often promising, but they are also often crippled. They are not optimized for personalization and may lack useful features. Premium apps, the ones that require you to pay, require more verification. I’ve read reviews, but I am often left with a bunch of similar apps that I opted to subscribe to and without the right solution.

Setapp – rated 4.8 out of 5 stars ProductHunt – is what stopped the cycle. Here are all the ways.

Dive into Setapp

Have you ever wanted an app that could clean your house? There is no one, but there is one that can clean your computer. In fact, Setapp gives you access to several of them. Those that make a huge difference during the first day are Gemini – which found and deleted 215.67 GB of my duplicate files – and CleanMyMac X, which performed a thorough audit and cleaning of my computer. My Mac now runs twice as fast.

But cleaning your Mac is just the end. There are hundreds of applications on offer within Setapp. It offers great applications for writers, students, professionals, computer maintenance, calendar management, personal finance – the list goes on and on.

I saw an app called Manuscripts with a description Write a book and make it easy. It actually made me laugh, but the app didn’t disappoint. The templates offered for different types of books provide guidance and motivation (two things I will use for the book I am writing).

Don’t want to bother switching from the original Calendar app? After a few days of using BusyCal, I changed forever. This application synchronizes all your calendars and tasks, displays the weather forecast and much more, which makes it easier to separate work from home.

Setapp also ships apps to track real-time crypto investments (Moonitor) and to track your income and spending to help you budget and save money (Chronicle).

My Explorer

After downloading Setapp, I dived into several subcategories of apps on the left sidebar of Setapp. The first was the Collections tab, which groups sets of applications by the types of problems they solve. For example: Finish things, which contains four applications.

Well, that’s me. I need help getting things done. So, this is a small application box that I clicked on. Be the most productive with Setapp’s GTD tools. Save time with a handy Windows manager, top-rated progress tracking app, and more.

Is it too good to be true? Let’s find out. The first app, called Timing, automatically tracks the time spent on your Mac. While you are working or joking on social networks, Timing stands in the background and follows what you have been doing.

After a few hours of using the time, I was impressed with how easy it is to optimize my time for tasks. I can understand when I am most productive during the week and when my hours are most active. Fortunately (and unfortunately), the timing also gives you a productivity rating – and mine was still low. I liked the features of the app, but I definitely need extra help to stay focused.

Next application in Finish things the collection is called Mosaic, which promises to arrange windows on my desktop. I’m known for having a ridiculous number of open windows, but after installing this app and finding it not particularly intuitive, I quickly moved on to the next one, MindNode.

MindNode gives people the ability to visualize ideas using mind maps, but that requires macOS 11.0 or later and I need to update. So it’s definitely a good idea to run a backup and get the latest Mac operating system before you explore Setapp.

Finally there is GoodTask. It is an application that keeps all your tasks in one place. It uses smart lists and various filters to control the way tasks are displayed. That’s exactly what I need: the power to personalize an organization.

After a few days of using GoodTask, I was sold. This app has helped me turn tasks into habits. For example, I set a goal to meditate alongside the YouTube Meditation List. Under a task called “Meditation”, I made a smart filter called “habit”. GoodTask is aligned with my calendar and helps me stay focused on what matters. Of course, you have to somehow learn the system how to stay focused, but the results prove to be worth it.

What I like most about GoodTask is how it helped me break down daily routines and responsibilities with subtasks.

They are so many applications in the Setapps’ Lifestyle section. Ready for backgrounds that sync with time? 24 Hour Wallpaper is the app for you! There is an application called ChatMate to use Whatsapp on your computer. Canary Mail promises to beautify and simplify the email experience, including a bulk cleaner and one-click logout technology.

Setapp’s Creativity section is wild. Perfect for content creators, digital artists and experience designers, these tools can make working on personal and professional projects much easier and more fun. See Vidrio – creates a holographic screencast using your webcam.

There’s also CleanShot X. This app has changed the way I take screenshots and take screenshots. I once merged things together with Quicktime and Command + Shift + 4. After installing CleanShot X, I can use a single shortcut to capture screenshots, capture screenshots, and capture content from specific windows.

(The Timing app told me I spent three full hours researching Creativity apps.)

Developer tools

Whether you are new to software engineering or an experienced professional, Setapp offers many tools to develop your workflow. Many of them are too advanced for me to talk about, but a couple stood out.

The Auxl application organizes and tests the code. You can use it to develop APIs. If you need to keep track of time, use the Buildwatch app to do so in Xcode. Then there is CodeRunner, an application that allows you to edit and run code in any language.

My favorite app in this section is RapidWeaver. Without any coding, it allowed me to create a website for my friend’s online business. The examples that RapidWeaver offers have proven to be very useful to begin with.

In the Productivity section, I found an app called HazeOver. It’s so amazing that I’m not sure why Apple didn’t make this a standard feature for laptops and desktops.

HazeOver darkens all unused windows and applications. When I first activated the app, I was very pleased with the aesthetics. After a few hours of darkened windows, I felt less worried about all the things I had to do. My brain is now focused on the task, and the Timing app showed that my productivity score increased by 25% after two days of using HazeOver.

Mac hacks

If GoodTask organizes your tasks, which application organizes your projects? The application you are looking for is called Workspaces. After installing this application, I am ready to become a lifelong Setapp user. Workspaces customizes your work environment based on your needs.

When I click on the Workspaces icon at the top of the screen, all my projects are displayed. If I click on a specific project, it is activated based on my specifications. For example, if I’m working on a book I’m writing, I’m redirected to my draft and can see all the milestones needed to move my project from idea to reality. Having workspaces on your computer is like having your own dedicated project manager.

Is Setapp worth it?

At first I was skeptical about Setapp, because it seemed to me that there was a lot to strain. But the apps are curated, arranged in a smart way, and a few of them work very well together, making life easier.

Instead of downloading Mac apps on a whim from the App Store, it’s much more cost-effective (and affordable) to try Setapp. No matter what challenges you have, Setapp will most likely have 10 apps to help you. And you can use them all with one subscription. No kidding.

I didn’t have a chance to explore the iOS apps, which Setapp started adding last year. There is an additional fee for them, but I’m sure it pays off. When I get my new iPad, I immediately install Setapp.

See for yourself why Trust pilot gave Setapp 4.4 stars and cult Maca ‘The reviewer called my new favorite Mac tool “flawless.” For a limited time, you can get a 36% discount on a one-year subscription to Setapp. At a selling price of $ 69, you’ll get access to more than 200 apps (and their updates) for less than $ 6 a month.
