As the Chromebook market matured, a bunch of higher-end models emerged. Samsung’s original Galaxy Chromebook was one of them, but the company realized that paying $ 1,000 for a Chrome OS machine was hard to sell for most. Enter the Galaxy Chromebook 2, Samsung’s fix, and a much better laptop with a starting price of $ 449 that’s easier on the stomach. But now you can get a Galaxy Chromebook 2 for $ 50 less or $ 399, which is a record low. It’s for the base model with a Celeron processor, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, but the Core i3 model is also on sale for $ 549 – $ 50 more than the lowest price, but it’s still a decent offer.

Samsung gave priority to the right things when developing the Galaxy Chromebook 2. The design is the same as the original, with a relatively light 2.2 pound frame, superb construction and fiery red. The company has abandoned the beautiful but heavy 4K screen from the previous version and opted for a 1080p QLED touch screen that is still nicer than the panel on most other Chromebooks. While the 4K display significantly affected the battery life of the original laptop, this QLED screen is not that bad. We managed to get about 12 hours of use with one charge, and although we would like the battery to be a little longer, you should go through the work day.

The Galaxy Chromebook 2 also has a convertible design, so you can use it in tablet mode or back it up by acting as a small TV for video streaming. It doesn’t come with a pen like some other Samsung laptops, but every Universal Stylus Initiative pen will work with it. If you look at the Galaxy Chromebook 2 as a secondary or travel device, the base model with a Celeron processor can provide all the power you need. But hardcore Chrome OS fans who want to use this machine as their everyday driver will not regret spending a little more money on the Core i3 version.
