Rivian is delaying the delivery of R1T trucks by 400 miles until 2023

Launch of electric transport Rivian delays deliveries of its R1T truck from 400 miles until 2023. In an e-mail to customers he received , CEO of RJ Scaringe said that the company gives priority to the production of R1T vehicles equipped with a “Large pack” battery. When these orders are fulfilled, then they will turn their attention to the more affordable “Explorer Package” equipment and the “Max pack” battery.

“When setting our delivery time, we optimized our work order around a combination of construction that would support us as quickly as possible and therefore have the greatest possible impact on the climate,” RJ Scaringe wrote in an email. We contacted Rivian for more information.

In the same message, Scaringe notes that Max battery variants make up approximately 20 percent of the 71,000 R1T and R1S pre-orders provided by the carmaker since December 15 this year. This suggests that the delay includes about 14,200 vehicles. Rivian allows people to change their orders if they want to get their R1T earlier. He also promised to share more information on delivery deadlines in early 2022.

Rivian has delayed R1T deliveries several times in recent years. The truck was originally supposed to debut in 2020, but the company eventually moved that date back to. The pandemic also played a role in that, but Rivian does not have much production capacity at the moment. He plans to open a new factory in. However, that will not be completed until around 2024. Meanwhile, the company also has an order to fulfill for the minority owner Amazon.
