It seems that Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman may have just stumbled upon the new Apple Store.
In the latest issue of the Power On newsletter, Gurman himself unveiled what appears to be a new Apple Store that could come to Grove Mall in Los Angeles, California. The location happens to be opposite an older Apple store that gives more power to rumors as Apple has repeatedly opened new stores near its old ones.
The giant new Apple Store arrives in LA. Last week I went to Grove Mall in Los Angeles and noticed a huge new space under construction on the right side of Nordstrom. The upcoming store is significantly tall, wide and surrounded by materials used by Apple in its recent retail overhauls.
There are no signs on the construction project that would indicate a builder or a store coming to that space, but it happens to be across from the existing Apple store that has been at that location for almost two decades and, frankly, aging. My friend Joseph quickly said it had to be Apple’s new location.
Gourmet said he could not see the inside of the store so it is unknown at this time how far the construction process has come.
Of course, I asked around and it sounds like the new space is really for a refurbished Apple store in Grove. As a local, I look forward to it. But it is not clear when it will open, and the front is so covered that it is difficult to feel the progress inside.
If Apple does open a new location, it will surely adopt most of the design of the company’s newer stores: massive windows, indoor greenery, leather and wood accents, etc.
