The Pokémon Unite has been available on the Nintendo Switch for months, but now iPhone and Android players have joined the fight for some great global gatherings. The rounds consist of teams of up to five players fighting each other to score the most points in the allotted time.
If I’ve learned one thing, it’s that playing with your friends, especially those you trust, makes it a lot easier to achieve victory. While you can rely on slow in-game messaging, talking to each other makes the whole thing more efficient, so I’ll show you how to do it. Unfortunately, voice chat is not currently available in the mobile version, but we will update if that changes.

NOTE: With update 13.0.0, Nintendo has recently made it possible to connect a Bluetooth headset directly to a switch without the need for a key or adapters. Thus, the process has just become easier for owners of wireless headphones.
How to use voice chat in Pokémon Unite
You will need to go to level 6 of the coach before you have access to voice chat. As long as the Nintendo Switch recognizes your headphones, you will be able to use them. Follow these steps to do this.
- Either connect or plug in a compatible headphones to your Nintendo Switch.
If you haven’t already done so, get started Pokémon Unite.
- Starting a Unite Battle. Keep in mind that you can’t talk to each other in the lobbies, just during the game.
When on the battlefield, press + button on the switch controller to open the settings menu.
- Now press – button on the switch controller for additional settings.
Scroll down to Voice chat settings.
- If you want to hear other people, turn around Arrival on On.
If you are doing this for the first time, you will need to press a key X button accept the terms and conditions for continuation.
- If you just want invited friends to hear you, change the option Incoming range to the team: invited. The Tim: Everyone This option allows you to hear at any time in your team.
If you want other people to be able to hear you, turn around Go to On.
With voice chat included, you’ll be able to talk to teammates and devise strategies to win battles.
Other voice chat options
It’s really frustrating that you can’t talk to other people while you’re on the main menu of Pokémon Unite or in the lobby. If you want to talk to your teammates more easily, I suggest you use your phone to access Discord or start your current meeting in Google Meet to talk to your friends while you play. This could prove more difficult on mobile devices because the voice chat service you use could appear on the screen and block your view of the game. You will just have to experiment and see which one suits you best.
