Overview of the connected USB 3.1 Type-C to HDMI 2.0 cable: Easy to follow Mac

You won’t need a MacBook with an HDMI port if you have a Plugable USB-C to HDMI cable. Just pull the cable between the external display and your Mac or iPad and you will have 4K @ 60Hz. Even better, it’s currently available at a discount that lowers the price below $ 17.

I tested this supplement in my home office to make sure it kept its promises.

Overview of the USB 3.1 Type-C connection cable to HDMI 2.0

People don’t like keys. That is understandable. And Plugable’s USB-C to HDMI cable takes this into account by integrating an HDMI adapter into the USB-C cable.

In fact, it’s the same as having a MacBook with an HDMI port. No need to put aside at least $ 1999 for a 2021 MacBook Pro.

The cable also works with iPad Pro and iPad Air models with USB-C.

Hardware and design

The USB 3.1 Type-C to HDMI 2.0 cable is 6 feet long. That’s enough to connect your Mac to a monitor on your desk.

The accessory is essentially Plugable’s USB-C to HDMI adapter but with a much longer cable. And that’s a good thing because the adapter works pretty well.

The cable connects your computer to an external display at a maximum resolution of 4K (3840 × 2160) and a refresh rate of 60Hz. This is what HDMI 2.0 in its name means.

This is not the latest version of HDMI, but it is all you need to watch Netflix, Disney + or Amazon Prime Video in 4K Ultra HD resolution.

To test the Plugable USB-C on an HDMI cable, I used it to connect my iPad Pro to an external monitor and home TV. It was quick and easy, and I am completely satisfied with the result.

Connecting USB 3.1 Type-C to HDMI 2.0 end thought cable

This USB-C to HDMI cable offers the same convenience as the HDMI port built into your Mac. You won’t find a simpler solution for connecting your MacBook to an HDMI monitor.

Although there are alternatives with more features, such as connecting to multiple monitors, they are not as affordable as the Plugable product.

The regular price of a USB 3.1 Type-C connection to an HDMI 2.0 cable is $ 19.95. Which would be a deal in itself. But it’s getting better.

Buy a cable from Amazon and, at the time of this writing, you will receive a $ 3 discount. This reduces your cost to $ 16.95. (Be sure to check the box for the additional discount.)

An alternative that is almost as simple is Plugable’s USB-C to HDMI adapter ($ 13.95). Just stick it on the end of the HDMI cable and you’re ready.
