Nothing released its first Ear 1 headphones in late summer 2021 with a partially transparent design, cool transparent case, good sound quality, active noise cancellation (ANC) and wireless charging. Now the company is introducing the new Ear 1 “Black Edition”, which retains interesting design and technological elements in a cool new look.

And Nothing, created by OnePlus founder Carl Pei, added that the product is now carbon neutral and that you can buy the product – still $ 99 – with bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. So there it is.

Transparent headphones, just black this time

Like the original white Ear 1 headphones, the Ear 1 Black Edition has an ANC, a wireless charging case and a transparent design reminiscent of the late 1990s iMac.

The buds get their sound from an 11.6mm driver paired with software and hardware from Teenage Engineering. They generate clear sound, especially at mid frequencies. However, they lack space options, although this is not surprising at this price.

The buds stop when you remove them from the ears. They get 5 hours of gaming on their own and add 34 hours more with wireless charging (which is also transparent).

More comes from Nothing

Ear 1 buds are Nothing’s first product. Carl Pei started the company after taking over the branding and logos from Essential, a smartphone company founded by Andy Rubin. But Nothing said it plans to launch a “smart device ecosystem” in the future.

Nothing has been said that it will offer 100 individually engraved versions of Ear 1 Black Edition headphones in one London popup store. But you can also buy them at starting at 6 am Eastern Time on December 13 at the same price as the original set – $ 99. You can sign up for the edition update page. In addition to cash or credit, the company said it would accept Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), USD Coin (USDC) and Dogecoin (DOGE).

Price: $ 99

Where to buy: Nothing (from December 13 at 3 am Pacific time)
