Carl Pei’s Nothing announced today that there is a brand new black edition of its Nothing headphones (1) and that these companies are now carbon neutral.
The unremarkable design and transparent case now has a brand new dark finish with matte black silicone headphones and an inner case. The Nothing’s ear (1) headphones come with 34 hours of battery life and cost just £ 99, and the new black option offers the same features as the current version.
Nothing says that 220,000 units of its headphones (1) have been delivered since the launch and that the buds are now carbon neutral. He evaluated and neutralized the carbon footprint of each pair of buds (1.78 kg of carbon to be exact), and that information will be added to the new label on the packaging.

CEO and co-founder Carl Pei said “Nothing is here to make a positive difference. Our new carbon neutral ear (1) is the first step on our path to sustainability. With the ear (1) we have proven that new ideas, from design to distribution , can resonate with users and bring back the feeling of excitement that was lacking in our industry. We hope that this black edition will raise a few more eyebrows in the coming months and that more technology brands will add a carbon transparency label to their products. “
Interestingly, Nothing also announced that it will start accepting payments in cryptocurrencies, especially Bitcoin, Ethereum, USD Coin and Dogecoin in selected countries.
The first 100 units of the black edition ear (1) will be individually engraved from 1 to 100 and will be available for sale at an exclusive kiosk in Seven Dials, Covent Garden in London, starting at 11:00 GMT on December 4. Open sales will begin Dec. 13 at 11:00 GMT (6:00 ET).
