Last week, Nintendo had its latest financial statements along with a briefing for investors detailing the state of sales of Switch games and consoles, as well as Nintendo’s plans for the future. Many interesting developments have emerged from these reports, including information about the next big 3D Mario game, the success of Nintendo Switch Online, and the next-generation Nintendo console release window.
Meanwhile, remakes of Pokémon Gen IV have leaked to the internet, and Nintendo has continued its illegal activities with revenge. Finally, Nintendo has already revealed its offers for the Nintendo Switch for Black Friday. Let’s dive.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl leak

In the last few weeks, several people have reported grabbing Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl more than a week earlier, as the games will not appear on store shelves until November 19. These leaks have led to games being thrown into emulators and even being already streaming on Twitch.

Some people even managed to go completely through the adventure and win the game. Now, Nintendo is a company that doesn’t let things like this go through and has taken steps to legally prosecute anyone who acquired their games in a dubious way. That means he also pulled any published videos or pictures before the games came out.
While some Pokémon fans are looking forward to the remakes, these leaks have led many players to complain about the artistic style of the games, the mechanics and the changes compared to the original Diamond and Pearl DS games. Now it’s important to note that there was already a 3GB patch from day one that was released on Thursday that added animations, opening and closing sequences, and post-game content. As you can imagine, these add-ons significantly change some of the things that people initially complained about after looking at the games that leaked. Given that the game was not yet to be made available to the public, it is not surprising that the games were not fully ready to begin when they first leaked.
I’m not going to get into everything that’s leaked here, but keep in mind that you might come across spoilers online in the time leading up to the release of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Whether all the complaints have been resolved or not, it looks like Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will have a successful release with how much attention they have received in the last few months.
Zelda Game & Watch

The Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda collection in retro style announced in February was finally released on Friday. It has the same style as the original Game & Watch devices that made Nintendo a household name back in the 80s. Instead of holding only one game, it contains three classic Zelda games: The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.
In addition, it has a modified version of the classic Game & Watch game, Vermin, but with Link’s face built into the main character. It also serves as a clock and timer with moving Zelda elements. All this together makes it a perfect collector’s item.
Unlike the original Game & Watch devices, this one has full color (good black on green for the Game Boy game) and has a rechargeable internal battery that charges via the included USB-C to USB cable. It will probably be a popular gift for Zelda fans this holiday season.

Four classic games
Take this great collectible with you wherever you go and have access to The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, along with a modified version of the classic Game & Watch game.
The next Nintendo console comes out in 20XX
During last week’s investor briefing, Nintendo reported that the Japanese gaming company has gone over Switch sales, game schedules and other information important to investors. The report concluded by saying it would release its next-generation console in “20XX”.
Due to its portable nature, the Nintendo Switch was a great player that is relevant for players of all preferences. It is currently on track to overtake the Wii as the best-selling Nintendo console of all time. As such, it makes sense that Nintendo doesn’t want to switch from a highly profitable Switch until it has to. Nintendo will surely reconsider how time passes and move to the next generation console when sales fall. One is sure; they are likely to continue the unique design of the hybrid console they created further.
Nintendo is looking towards the next 3D Mario game
As another part of the Nintendo financial report, Shigeru Miyamoto was asked about the differences between 2D and 3D Mario games. According to Nintendo Life, he stated:
As for the difference between 2D Mario and 3D Mario, let me explain by describing the background for the development of the Wii game New Super Mario Bros. The Wii, which was released in 2009. At the time, it seemed like we were creating a new part of the Super Mario series each time – which had expanded into 3D by then – it became more complicated. After the release of Super Mario Galaxy in 2007, the goal was to develop a more affordable 3D Super Mario game, and the result was New Super Mario Bros. Wii, a basic Super Mario game with side scrolling that even new players can easily play. This later led to the release of an even simpler game, Super Mario Run (mobile application released in 2016). Recently, people of all generations have enjoyed the 3D Mario game Super Mario Odyssey (released in 2017), so for 3D Mario in the future we want to try to expand further in new ways.
It’s a little crazy to think that Super Mario Odyssey, the last big Mario game on Switch that wasn’t a port, was released more than four years ago in 2017. Nintendo has worked hard to create the plumber’s next adventure, though it’s hard to say whether it will come on Switch or will wait until the next generation Nintendo console at this point.
As for “further expansion in new ways,” Odyssey has indeed expanded the plumber’s skill set to include a sensible hat, Cappy, and his mind control abilities. It will be great to see what other skills are in preparation. If nothing else, it would be great if the pseudo-sequel to The Odyssey gave us control over multiple characters like Parakoopas, the spooky Boo, or maybe even Bowser himself.
Nintendo Switch Online has over 32 million members
Nintendo reported that as of September 2021, it has over 32 million members of the Nintendo Switch Online service. This is more than twice as much as what Microsoft reported for its Xbox Game Pass membership in January, but it’s not too surprising given how much cheaper the Nintendo service is. In any case, these numbers are staggering. It’s worth noting that this data was just before the launch of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, so we don’t know for sure how the N64 and Sega Genesis games could have affected membership.
Speaking about the Expansion Pack, Nintendo President, Shuntaro Furukawa, said during a briefing that the company is working to improve the experience.
“In the future, we will continue to improve and expand the Nintendo Switch Online and the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, striving to provide services that satisfy consumers.”
We hope the company listens to fan complaints regarding the Expansion Pack and works to improve things for its customers. At the very least, it is necessary to add re-mapping control options, including multiple games, and to correct delay problems encountered by players.
Sega has had a successful financial year
Now, obviously, Sega is not owned by Nintendo. However, given Sega’s relationship with Nintendo and the number of Sega games on the Switch, it’s still worth talking about. Although Sega owns IP addresses for several legendary gaming franchises, it hasn’t always been so good for itself.
According to Twinfinite, Sega showed very good results this year and even “significantly exceeded expectations”. According to the report, Sega plans to:
Invest approximately 100 billion yen ($ 880 million) by March 2026 to expand your development process, strengthen global mobile and online games, strengthen the customer relationship management department to revitalize customer communities and invest in new business areas such as NFT .
While the thought of another big media company jumping into the NFT wagon makes me give up, the rest of these goals are good to see. Sega is constantly talking about how he is working on his mysterious “Super Game,” so it wouldn’t be surprising if these changes are introduced to help sustain that project once it’s released.

What are you playing this weekend?
With so many major updates in Animal Crossing: Happy Home Paradise DLC, this weekend I will be busy upgrading my home, creating holiday homes for cute animals, and relaxing in general. I’m also close to winning The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time again via the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. You just have to go through Hyrule Castle and fight Ganondorf at this point.
I hope that whatever game you play this weekend will bring you the challenge you are looking for or the relaxing getaway you need.
Until next time.
