New studio Amy Hennig is making a game with Marvel

It’s been a long time since we’ve heard any news from Amy Hennig, but now we know what the former writer and creative director of Naughty Dog and Visceral Games has been working on since. Marvel on Friday announced a collaboration with Hennig’s Skydance New Media studio on a new set in its comic book universe. Details of the project are rare, but the Disney-owned company said the title will feature “a completely original story and depiction of the Marvel universe.”

“I can’t imagine a better partner than Marvel for our first game,” Hennig said. “Marvel Universe embodies all the action, mystery and excitement of the pulp adventure genre that I adore and fits in perfectly with the interactive experience. I am honored to be able to tell the original story with all the humanity, complexity and humor that makes Marvel’s characters so resilient and allow our players to embody these heroes they love. ”

In a way, it’s a surprise to learn that Hennig is working on an AAA title. When she left EA after the publisher, she seemed to want a change of pace. “I would like to have a small company of six to eight people, a maximum of 15, and then do smaller projects,” she said at the time. But then the possibility of working with Marvel may have been too hard to ignore, especially for a new studio working on its first game. Much like being done in Hollywood, the company has begun to attract talent from every corner of the gaming industry. In between, so far Skydance New Media, some of the best studios are working on Marvel real estate.
