New 16-inch MacBook Pro 140W Charger Dismantles hardware in detail

The new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro impressed everyone. Apple has finally decided to return the function key, ports and most importantly, the MagSafe charger. This is the first time that the MacBook Pro will support fast charging via the new MagSafe 140W power adapter. ChargerLab has announced the disassembly of the power adapter revealing little things.

We’ve already seen a bunch of MacBook Pro disassembly. This is the first break that focuses on the power adapter. The new MacBook Pro uses gallium nitride or “GaN” technology to reduce the size of the charger. Furthermore, it uses USB-C Power Delivery 3.1. ChargerLab painstakingly cuts the power adapter housing to give us an insight into what’s inside.

The demolition is shown in detail and starts at 7:30 in the video. This is the first Apple adapter with USB-C Power Delivery 3.1. In addition, the new MacBook Pro is also compatible with third-party power adapters with USB Power Delivery 3.1. Apple ships a 140W adapter with a 16-inch MacBook Pro, and it’s also available from Apple for $ 99.

We recently learned that the 16-inch MacBook Pro does not support fast charging via USB-C. You can charge the new MacBook Pro via MagSafe or Thunderbolt. However, the 16-inch MacBook Pro supports a peak fast charging power of 100 W via USB-C. The desired 140W is only available via the 140W MagSafe charger. However, this is not a big deal because you would use the included power adapter for fast charging.
