The feature could launch with the iPhone 14 as early as this year. After launching the iPhone, Apple plans to bring the technology to the Apple Watch. Apple’s plan involves letting users take advantage of two parts of the satellite connection. The new protocol will appear as a gray bubble in the Messages application.

Key Apple suppliers that make iPhones and MacBooks have suspended production at key locations as new restrictions and lockdown. Pegatron, one of Apple’s leading iPhone suppliers after Foxconn, has suspended iPhone production at its factories in Shanghai and Kunshan. The two factors are Pegatron’s only two production sites for iPhones, with suppliers responsible for producing 20-30% of all iPhones.

Quanta, another Apple supplier for the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, revealed that it had suspended production in Shanghai since the beginning of the month. Dozens of other suppliers that are directly or indirectly part of Apple’s supply chain were also disrupted.
