Luna Display runs PC on Mac mode, 5K support, iPad Magic Keyboard functionality, more

Luna Display came out today with a sharp update to make using Mac and iPad as secondary screens easier than ever. With the new PC in Mac mode, Luna now works with resolutions up to 5K, has support for the iPad Magic Keyboard and more.

Luna Display maker Astro today shared details about the 5.1 update in a press release and blog. Two major new features are support for 4K / 5K resolution and PC in Mac mode:

A long-awaited request from our users – you can now use your 4K or 5K computer as a second screen in full resolution. Make the most of each pixel for a super sharp display with the Moon. **Note: 5K support requires USB-C Luna. Resolutions higher than 4K require macOS Big Sur or later.

In October, we saw that the Luna Display got support for using the iPad as a secondary display for the Windows PC, and has now been extended to use any Mac as a wireless display for the PC.

This means that Luna Display now allows you to use the following configurations:

  • Mac to iPad or PC to iPad
  • Mac to Mac or PC to Mac
  • Headless mode
  • Teleprompter Mode

Another great addition sees Luna Display working with iPad’s Magic Keyboard and Trackpad. Finally, Luna Display 5.1 brings Teleprompter Mode and Office Mode for PC (first launched for Mac 2020).

Pair the Luna Display with the air distributor to allow direct eye contact during a video call. Teleprompter Mode automatically flips your image on the screen so that your air divider reflects the correct image orientation. It is perfect for professional meetings, online classes or interviews. We first introduced Teleprompter Mode for Mac 2020, and now we’re adding it for PC users as well.

Along with the 5.1 update, Luna Display is doing a 25% promotion for 1-2. December. Note that you will want the USB-C version of the Moon to have support for 5K resolutions.

Existing Luna Display users should see a query to upgrade to version 5.1 when running Luna on your Mac or PC. And check out the App Store on the iPad to update to the new release of Luna.
