iPad Mini 6 Screen Distortion Complaints to the surface, but there is no evidence that this is a widespread issue

Following complaints of “shifting jelly” on the iPad mini 6’s screen, there was another problem on the Internet that also has to do with the device’s 8.3-inch liquid retina display.

The poster on Reddit drew attention to the problem of color change and distortion they had when touching the screen with an iPad in portrait orientation.

I got my 64GB Wi-Fi iPad Mini 6 just a week ago and noticed that there seems to be a problem with the LCD screen — if you set the mini mini to portrait orientation (with the power button in the upper right corner), lightly press the screen and you will see distortion and discoloration about an inch down and from the upper right corner. On most models, this will happen in three places along the top of the screen (when it is vertical).

Redditor claims they got a replacement from Apple, except the new device had the same problem, “but worse.” While a few users responded to the original poster saying they were facing a similar problem – although for one or two it was reportedly evident in another part of the screen – most of the users involved in the posting could not replicate the device themselves.

What is it worth, MacRumors could not reproduce a similar distortion effect around the area suggested in the upper right corner of the ‌iPad mini‌ screen. It is possible to create a distortion where the finger comes in contact anywhere on the screen, but only with unwarranted pressure. But then the same effect is visible on any LCD screen when applying excessive pressure, so we weren’t convinced that what we saw was evidence of a massive panel failure in the ‌iPad mini‌ 6.

Users who see a similar problem as the one shown in the video above have the option to take their “iPad mini” 6 to the Apple Store or repair center to request a replacement unit.

As for moving jelly, Apple said the effect is the usual behavior of LCD screens, which probably means the company has no plans to offer replacements for users who see this problem. For this reason, those who are dissatisfied with the “iPad mini” screen should make sure to return the tablet within 14 days of return.
