Earlier this month, it unveiled an upcoming option, and today Instagram announced that all companies can now link their WhatsApp business account to Instagram to facilitate new connectivity options in the app.
As you can see here, by linking your WhatsApp business account you will be able to add a new WhatsApp connection card to your business profile on Instagram, providing another way for people to get in touch and encourage direct conversations with your business.
Which could be a big deal – acaccording to Facebook, 75% of adults want to communicate with businesses via messaging. Which seems high, but even if that’s partly true, providing a way for each individual to contact you via message and in the messaging app they prefer could be a positive step.
In addition, once you link your WhatsApp business account, you will be able to do the same boost posts that force users to send you messages in the app.
As Instagram explained:
“Boosting the post leading to WhatsApp allows companies to reach more people and excite them to be their next customers through personalization. Businesses can also choose to simplify their messages and take advantage of WhatsApp’s automated responses and organizational tools.”
In addition, Facebook is working on a new messaging process will discover the messaging platform most commonly used by an individual user, and then ask them to send a message about your brand on that service, if your company has an active account in the relevant application.
This is another reason to link your WhatsApp business profile to IG, because even if you don’t use it that much, your customers could, and they would rather get in touch through a particular app.
To launch a promoted WhatsApp link through your Instagram account:
- In the profile settings, add your WhatsApp business number to the “contact options” on your business account on Instagram.
- Choose an existing post on your Instagram business account that will inspire your audience.
- Press the blue boost button, select messages and select WhatsApp
- Set a goal, audience, budget, and ad duration to help you reach your goals.
- Review your selection, review your ad, and tap ‘create ad’.
- Once approved, your ad will be active within 24 hours.
It could be a good addition – or at least worth experimenting with in your process.
