Earlier this month, Apple withdrew packages from the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro. The new MacBooks have a lot of advantages with class-leading performance and more ports. The good people at iFixit crash the 2021 Mac Pro and give an overview.
The new MacBook Pro would be expected to achieve high fixability thanks to ports, MagSafe and a function key instead of the Touch Bar. iFixit’s disassembly review praises how the new MacBook is a custom “do it yourself”.
Batteries are usually difficult to remove and are placed under the logic board. Well, the MacBook Pro battery comes with battery eject tabs that allow you to replace the batteries without interfering with the logic board or other critical components. iFixit notes that it hasn’t seen the battery pull tabs on the MacBook Pro in a long time.
The four external batteries have pull-out tabs, while the middle cell is located below the trackpad. You will notice the battery tabs for the middle cell after removing the trackpad. iFixit says the new MacBook Pro has “the first battery replacement procedure that’s reasonably DIY-adjusted since 2012.”
We’re just getting started, so we’ll have more MacBook Pro disassembly soon, including the full video and more analysis in this post. In the meantime, leave a comment below and tell us how excited you are to see it or ask any questions you have!
In addition, a complete video on disassembling the MacBook Pro is on the way and will surely offer a better look at the hardware. iFixit only talks about an easily replaceable battery at a glance. Apple seems to have done the right thing by restoring the function key, MagSafe charge, ports, and spacious case.
