How to install macOS Monterey on your Mac

How to install macOS Monterey on your Mac

MacOS 12.0.1 is the first public Monterey release, it is about 12 GB in size and you will need a little more disk space than that. Note that it may take several hours or more to download depending on your Internet connection and Apple’s servers.

  1. If you’re not sure, make sure your Mac is compatible with macOS Monterey
  2. Create a new backup of your Mac in case you have problems and want to revert to an older version and need to restore
  3. You can download macOS Monterey via OTA (System Preferences> Software Update) or use this link to download the OS in the Mac App Store
  4. Click the blue “Download” button in the App Store or “Upgrade Now” in System Preferences
  5. After the download is complete, the installer should open automatically
  6. Click “Continue” and follow the instructions
  7. Do not close your MacBook or put the Mac to sleep during the installation process
