Apple’s new update tvOS 15.2 adds a bunch of stunning screen savers to Apple TV, including three from the picturesque Scottish island of Skye and Loch Moidart, and six more from Iceland. And you can enjoy all of them on Mac.

Thanks to a simple application created by developer John Coates, all tvOS wallpapers can be installed on macOS. We’ll show you how.

Get Apple TV’s new Aerial screen savers on the Mac

Coates ’open source Aerial app, maintained by Guillaume Louel, is a free download for macOS 10.12 and later. It offers a number of convenient features, such as the ability to display the date and weather forecast on the screen saver.

Aerial also brings all of Apple TV’s screen savers to your desktop, including his footage of cities like New York and San Francisco, his terrestrial videos from the International Space Station, and his wonderful underwater expeditions.

Screen savers occasionally download directly from Apple’s servers, so you don’t need to update the antenna to enjoy the latest Apple TV add-ons. And unlike tvOS, Aerial on Mac lets you choose the screen saver you want to see.

How to install Aerial on your Mac

Here’s how to use it:

  1. Download Antenna from the official GitHub site.
  2. When the package is downloaded, open it and drag Aerial Companion application on your own Applications folder.
  3. Open up Aerial Companion from Applications folder, then follow the on-screen steps to complete the installation.
  4. Open up System settings.
  5. Choose Desktop & Screen Saver.
  6. Choose Screen saver card, then select Antenna.
  7. Click Screen saver options… then select the screen saver you want to see.

When you get to step seven, there are other customization options you can play with, such as adding overlays to display messages, time, date, weather forecast, or timer. You can also add filters, specify screen brightness and more.

In addition to all the Apple TV wallpapers, Aerial also features community videos – a collection of 20 screen savers that are offered for free. However, if you like Aerial and want to support it, you can make a donation.
