October 30, 2018: Apple stops releasing watchOS 5.1 after problems with the Series 4

Update: Apple suspended the update of watchOS 5.1 after users on Twitter, Reddit, and Apple support forums reported bugs that caused the Apple Watch Series 4 to respond, also known as “walled up.”

Due to the small number of Apple Watch users who are having trouble installing watchOS 5.1 today, we have withdrawn the software update as a precaution. All affected users should contact AppleCare, but nothing needs to be done if the update is successfully installed. We are working to repair an upcoming software update.
