On the eve of their launch, Apple announced a new design look for the new Beats A-COLD-WALL * Studio3 limited edition headphones.
You can watch the new video below:
Samuel Ross, who collaborated with Beats by Dre on the product, says new graphics techniques have been developed to provide a sensory experience with the headphones and their packaging.
“The focus of our Beats A-COLD-WALL * collaboration has been to convey a universal material language that is sensitive and recognizable to all, ensuring the minimalist sensibility that is carried through the process.
I wanted to produce a product language suitable for everyday use. Precision and specificity have become unspoken rules throughout the process, from product to packaging. New graphics techniques were developed with Beats to offer a two-tone patina composed of gray slate and washed chalk. Seemingly both offer a textured hand touch that reflects the feel of a hand dealing with raw minerals and manufactured materials – the sensory experience had to exist through physical touch with acoustics.
Building a literal connection between environment, inspiration, materials and functions has allowed us to project common, hyper local, hyper global influences as a cornerstone for a universal community. By this I mean cinematography, changing environments and locations – a catalyst for music that plays an important role in transporting listeners or transforming the physical environment. “
Apple originally announced a new special edition of the headphones in September, when they quietly appeared on the company’s online store.
A-Cold-Wall * presented by Samuel Ross in partnership with Beats dr. Dre represents ACW * | Beats Studio3 wireless headphones with active noise cancellation for an impressive sound experience.
This collaboration intertwines the iconic silhouette of the Beats Studio3 wireless headphones with a slate color palette featuring a spotted cement appliqué that covers both the headphones and ear pads. The ACW * carrier logo and onyx stroke are lowered on each side with a clay-colored inner strap to give the headphones contrast and graphic sophistication.
Given our environmental impact, Beats Studio3 packaging is designed from wood fibers that are either recycled or obtained from responsibly managed forests. The outer box and sleek embossed strap are made from recycled fiber content to promote resource conservation, and make the whole experience deeply thoughtful.
The Beats Studio3 A-COLD-WALL * headphones will officially fall on Monday, October 18 at 9:00 PST.
