Developer Red Sweater has updated the popular automation tool FastScripts, which is free to download with a reduced premium upgrade for existing users, with new features and keyboard shortcuts.
FastScripts is a popular automation tool for Mac users, and version 3.0 adds several new features and icons in the style of macOS Monterey. Most features remain free for all users with advanced scripting and keyboard shortcuts locked behind a premium one-time purchase.
Key features for FastScripts 3 include parallel script execution, Scriptlight search, and progress reporting. There are also a number of improvements to script assignments and user interface settings.
According to a post on the Red Sweater blog, Apple’s limitations of advanced functionality “made it impossible” to release an updated version of the app. So the app will no longer be distributed through the Mac App Store.
Existing FastScripts 2 users can get the new version directly from the Red Sweater site. Those using the Mac App Store version will not be able to directly upgrade their app and will have to go to the website for the new version.
Anyone can download the app for free and use many scripting options without paying, but those who want more complex automation tools and keyboard shortcuts will have to pay. New users can purchase an upgrade for $ 39.95, and existing users can get an upgrade for $ 19.95.
Those who have purchased the Mac App Store version of FastScripts 2 will need to verify the authenticity of their previous purchase using the instructions in the Red Sweater help article.
