It’s really frustrating to find a reminder on the iPhone that keeps popping up. Since I have been hit by this strange problem several times, I know how irritating it is. The worst part of this problem is that your iOS device is firmly locked and you have to enter the device code every time to unlock it.
So, what are the solutions to fix a random iPhone shutdown warning? Well, there are plenty of tips that have saved many users, including me. And that’s what I’m going to share with you in this guide. That being said, let’s get started!
1. Make sure that the housing does not interfere with any of the buttons
While this is not a direct solution per se, make sure the case on your iPhone doesn’t accidentally press or block the sleep / wake button. Some robust or heavy cases have sturdy buttons that tend to accidentally press the side button.
Also, make sure that the power button is not dirty or debris. Press it to confirm that it matches. If the buttons on your bag stiffen, remove the case and use the device for a while. If the drag-and-drop prompt doesn’t appear this time, the problem is with your case, not your iPhone.
2. Force a restart of your iPhone
Hard reset (forced reboot) comes into play when it comes to common problems with iOS 15 or iPadOS 15. Since it has the ability to solve various problems, we must never miss this one.
- On iPhone 8 or later: Press and quickly release the volume up button. Then press and quickly release the volume down button. After that, be sure to hold the side button until the screen turns black and the Apple logo appears on the screen.
- On iPhone 7 and 7 Plus: Hold down the volume down button and side button until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
- On iPhone 6s / 6s Plus: Hold down the Home button and the side button at the same time until the Apple logo appears.
After your iPhone restarts, use the device for a while to make sure the “slide off” pop-up window is gone. If it’s over, you can go!
3. Reset all settings
Another solution you should try to solve the pop-up “slide off” that repeatedly appears on the iPhone problem is to reset all settings. Just like hard reset, it is also well known for solving common iPhone problems. Note that this will reset your iPhone to factory settings by removing all existing settings, including VPN and W-Fi. However, your media and data will remain secure.
To do this, go to Application settings on your iPhone, tap General, select Transfer or reset iPhone, select Reset, and tap Reset all settings. After that, you will need to enter the device code and confirm the action.
Note that you will need to open in iOS 14 or earlier Settings, select General, select Reset, and tap Reset all settings.
4. Update the software
Does the slide to power off window still appear constantly on your iPhone? No problem. More often than not, iOS updates come bundled with a bunch of bug fixes and performance improvements. So, there is a good chance that updating the software can help you solve this annoying problem.
Go to Application settings on your iPhone and select General. Now tap Software update then download and install the latest version of iOS on your iPhone.
Here it is! Hopefully, the “slide off” pop-up window will no longer appear on your iPhone. As these hacks have worked for many users, I can say with certainty that they have been effective for you as well. Which of these tips helped you solve the problem?
