According to The New York Post, Apple has entered into negotiations with Major League Baseball (MLB) about the possibility of demonstrating MLB games on the Apple TV + platform. This is a big step for Apple in the competitive field of video streaming services. One of Apple’s main competitors – Amazon already has a contract with the NFL with the right to show “Thursday Night Football” from this fall.

Currently, Apple TV + only offers on-demand TV and movie content. For a long time, live sports have been dominated by the cable sports channel. Thus, broadcasting the sport live on Apple + will not only attract new audiences to the service and provide them with exclusive sports content, but will also be a big step in the development of sports broadcasts. Most of the rights to MLB games are owned by ESPN. However, negotiations with Apple concern the national games on weekdays, which are held on Mondays and Wednesdays, and which are no longer owned by the ESPN channel.
