The first season of the Apple TV + epic “Foundation” will end on Friday. On the eve of the finals, Apple released a short video on Thursday summarizing the main events in the show so far.

Posted on YouTube, the 90-second video is more of a summary than a trailer and captures viewers on events in the first eight episodes before the end of the season on Friday. The “final trailer” contains some spoilers, so viewers are advised to watch at their own discretion.

Based on what is considered one of the greatest science fiction series ever written, The Foundation tells the story of the eponymous institute created by “psychohistorian” Harry Seldon (Jarred Harris) during the collapse of the 12,000-year-old Galactic Empire. . Having predicted the decline of civilization, Seldon hopes to prevent the coming dark age by collecting and preserving human knowledge in the Foundation.

It is not a strict adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s classics, the series takes traces from the literary work, but puts a special focus on the characters, places and time. It is still a monumental task given the multitude of faces appearing through the winding story that unfolds through the centuries.

The “Foundation” debuted in September with various reviews. To follow the premiere, Apple launched an official podcast hosted by Jason Concepcion and show host David S. Goyer. The weekly show features deep insights into new episodes, and Goyer offers a backdrop about his interpretation of Asimov’s text.

The last episode of the first season is called “The First Crisis”.

“At Terminus, Salvor testifies to how powerful the zero field has become. Brother Dawn makes a brave choice,” Apple’s description reads.

Apple renewed the series in October, although it is not yet known when the second season will debut.

“[W]in the second season, our audience will be able to visit more of Asimov’s indelible characters and worlds, including Hober Mallow, General Bel Riose and all of the Outer Suns, ”Goyer said in a press release at the time. work. We’re playing a long game with the Foundation and I’m grateful to my partners at Apple and Skydance for entrusting me with this epic. Fasten up. We will close a serious space soon. “

“The First Crisis” will be broadcast on Apple TV + on Friday, November 12.
