Apple is making smaller, more affordable alternatives to the Pro Display XDR

Apple is currently building two smaller, more affordable alternatives to its 32-inch Pro Display XDR, according to a leak. The company is also working on a new high-end display with a built-in A13 chipset.

New screens in early development reportedly use LG panels. And it remains unclear when they might appear on the market.

Apple is working on three new external screens

The current Pro Display XDR is probably the best screen with the most accurate colors you can pair with a Mac. But with a whopping $ 4,999 (excluding the $ 999 stand), it is also one of the most expensive external monitors on the market.

So, in addition to the successor to the Pro Display XDR with its own integrated silicon, Apple is working on two smaller alternatives that are likely to be much more affordable, according to the leak. @dylandkt on Twitter.

The screens, which will reportedly offer the same specifications, are said to be being tested in 24-inch and 27-inch options. However, Dylan says they are in early development for now, so these details could change.

As things stand, both monitors use screens from LG – which also produces panels for Apple’s existing Pro Display XDR.

New 32-inch Pro Display XDR

Dylan also says the 27-inch version of the monitor, as well as the new 32-inch Pro Display XDR successor, will offer ProMotion technology for refresh rates up to 120 Hz – the first for an external Apple display.

The 32-inch model is expected to have its own A13 chip and Neural Engine, although it is currently unclear what these chips will be used for. There is also no word on when any of these screens could become available.

Dylan has pretty decent results when it comes to predicting Apple’s plans. It currently has a rating of 77.5%. AppleTrack, and his tips on the MacBook Pro 2021, iPhone 13 and 24-inch iMac were real.
