Apple is expanding its iPhone 12 and 12 Pro repair program due to sound problems in the UAE

Five months after Apple announced a repair program due to sound issues on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro in the U.S., the company is also offering a service in the UAE. If you are a user in the UAE and encounter this problem, you can repair your iPhone 12 for free at the Apple Store or an authorized service center.

According to Khaleej Times (over AppleInsider), a company from Cupertino announced this service program in the United Arab Emirates for iPhone 12 and 12 Pro produced between October 2020 and April 2021. The statement said:

“Apple has found that a very small percentage of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro devices can have sound problems due to a component that can fail on the receiver module. The affected devices were manufactured between October 2020 and April 2021.

Although Apple originally announced this service program in August, it is not clear how many devices are affected by this problem. Apple states:

“If your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro does not output sound from the receiver when making or receiving calls, it may be eligible for service. Apple or an Apple Authorized Repairer will service the appropriate devices free of charge. ”

The Khaleej Times reported that only the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro have this problem, while the 12 mini and 12 Pro Max are not part of the service campaign. The publication states:

Apple said on its website that it may limit or limit the repair to the country of origin or region of purchase. This worldwide Apple program does not extend the standard warranty for the iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro. The program covers affected iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro devices two years after the first retail sale of the device.

In August, 9to5Mac has already reported the same repair program for these iPhones. At the time, the company said a “very small percentage” should see the speaker’s mistake.

How to check that iPhone 12 does not qualify for the audio repair program

  • This utility is only for 12 and 12 Pro (not iPhone 12 mini or Pro Max)
  • Your iPhone may be eligible for a free repair if the sound doesn’t work when you make or receive calls
  • Apple does not offer a serial number check for this program, so you will need to contact Apple Support to make sure your iPhone is covered by the pull
