The last major task that Tom Nook asks of you to complete in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is Project K. Basically, you will be asked to take a nice retreat around the island to host a KK Slider concert. This is a significant effort that requires you to spend a lot of resources without a lot of guidance. But if you can do that, you will get a huge reward in the form of terraforming, which allows you to shape the space at will.
1. Upgrade Resident Services to the building and talk to Tom Nook
To get this far in the game, you need to upgrade Resident Services from tent to building. If you haven’t done so yet, get to it! These things need to be completed to upgrade Resident Services:
- Upgrade your tent to the house
- Invite three new villagers
- Build Nook’s Cranny
- Build a bridge
- Invite three more villagers
When you do all that, you will find Tom in the newly built Resident Services building. When you talk to him, he will give you a brief overview of everything you can do in the new building and then note that he wants to work on Project K. Basically, the goal of this project is to get KK Klizač to hold a concert on your island. To do this, you will need to make your island a more exciting place.

Tom Nook will tell you that he is interested in bringing more people to the island. He will ask you to choose the perfect location for the camp. Run around your island and choose a place to build a campground. He will show up the next day. The camp will not be usable on the first day it is open, so you will have to wait for someone to show up the next day.
2. Invite new villagers to live on your island and build more houses
You need more people to live on your island if you are going to persuade KK to hold a concert there. There are two different ways to attract new residents:
The first camper that appears in your campsite is selected at random. However, in the end, you will be able to invite certain villagers to your island using amiibo cards. However, you cannot do this until you unlock the amiibo option. While the camper is visiting, you can ask him to become a permanent resident of your island. Some of them are hard to come by, so you may need to invite them multiple times before they agree to move in.
Island trips with Nook Miles maps
You can also invite villagers to your island using Nook Miles Tickets. Buy a ticket at NookStop at Resident Services for 2,000 Nook miles, then fly to another island. While on a trip, you may simply come across a villager you have never seen before. Talk to them and invite them to live on your island.
Build new houses
To accommodate all these villagers, you will have to build a few more houses. Talk to Tom Nook at Resident Services. He is eager to sell more land for housing. You will have to pay him 10,000 bells for every household utensil you take from him. For your effort, you will receive Nook Miles compensation when someone moves in. You can have a total of 10 villagers on your island, so keep saving and set up new housing plots until you reach the limit.
3. Improve your island to get feedback from KS
The most challenging and challenging part about Project K is raising the star levels of your island evaluation. Sign up with Isabelle in Resident Services to see what your current star rating is. She will let you know which area you need to work on to improve your score through her recommendations which are a bit vague and often repetitive.
In short, you’ll need to build more homes, invite more villagers to move in, and enhance the overall look of your island by placing decor and items everywhere to get a better rating. This will probably take hundreds of thousands of bells and a few days.
Some key ways to do this are to keep the site free of weeds, use a wide range of outdoor decorations, plant lots of trees and flowers, and fence off these new gardens. Browse the Nook Stop terminal for relevant recipes and impressive structures. Unlocking the Able Sisters store will also give you a significant boost, so try to do so as soon as possible.
Keep checking on Isabelle at Resident Services every day to see what needs to be done around your island. Each time they will read some feedback that visitors have written about your island. One day, she will read a message signed by “KS” Nook and Isabelle will quickly realize that this feedback is from no one else but KK Slider himself.
Nook will then call KK from his phone. After a short conversation, Nook will tell you that the famous musician will appear on your island tomorrow.
4. Visit the KK Slider concert
KK Slider will appear on your island the day after Nook calls him. When that happens, you and your villagers will gather around and listen to this puppy’s fantastic tunes as the final credits move on. They will even give you a new song called Welcome to Horizons. With the start of update 2.0, some new hidden features have been included, such as the ability to clap during his concerts by pressing A button.
KK Slider then becomes the main visitor to the island, appearing in front of Resident Services every Saturday. He will spend most of the day playing whatever songs he wants. However, when 6pm comes, you can request a specific song. A great advantage here is that it will even give you a copy of the song you were looking for, which you can take home and put in your stereo. By watching his first show, you’ll also be rewarded with Nook Miles, and you’ll earn more if you become a regular at his performances.
5. Purchase terrain permits at the Resident Services kiosk
After the concert is over, Tom Nook will talk to you and give you the Island Designer app, which unlocks terraforming capabilities. In the beginning, you will only be able to make paths. To unlock certain terrain permits, you’ll need to spend Nook miles at the Resident Services kiosk. But once you get them, you can move rivers, adjust cliffs, set trails and redesign your island to really make it the perfect getaway. Here are all the permits you can buy:
|Landscaping permit||6,000 Nook miles|
|Permission to build a cliff||6,000 Nook miles|
|Permission for arched tiles||2,000 Nook miles|
|Permission to build a path||2,000 Nook miles|

Live at the concert
Now you know how to make KK Slider appear regularly on your island. This is a great way to collect all his songs and just bring more enjoyment to your game on Saturdays. Good luck with Project K! I hope you can quickly raise the level of stars on your island and get an amazing rating of the island from your favorite dog holding a guitar.
