All exclusive versions in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Source: iMore

The Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are coming to the Nintendo Switch on November 19, 2021. If you’re planning to get just one of these games and you’re not sure which version to choose, comparing Pokémon exclusive versions might help. Even if you don’t get all the Pokémon you love in one version, you can always Wonder Trade to complete that Pokédex. Note that the Pokémon HOME store will not be available until 2022.

There are a total of 493 Pokémon in National Pokédex, but you will only have access to Sinnoh Pokédex when you start playing. Whichever version you choose, we’re sure both games will be fun to play and will become some of the best Pokémon games on the Nintendo Switch.

Data diggers and girls like @CentroLEAKS on Twitter have confirmed that there are a total of 493 Pokémon in National Dex. This does not include Sylveon. The original Diamond and Pearl Sinnoh Pokédex contained 151 Pokémon, while the National Pokédex Games contained over 490 Pokémon that players could catch.

Which Pokémon can I replace in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl?

We don’t know for sure yet. However, since not all Pokémon have entered the Sword and Shield Pokédex, I guess only selected monsters can be traded. We’ll keep our ears downstairs and let you know when we find out more. We know that Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will not be working with Pokemon HOME until sometime in 2022. So until then, players will have to trade exclusively within Gen IV remakes.

I listed the original diamond, pearl and platinum exclusives in the following sections, followed by Sinnoh Pokédex. To understand the exclusive original DS games, you need to understand that Diamond, Pearl and Platinum had Sinnoh Pokédex as well as National Pokédex unlocked after the game.

The Sinnoh Pokédex is made up of 151 Pokemon including Gen 4 starters. When players defeat the elite four, see all 151 Pokemon in Sinnoh Dex and talk to Professor Rowan, Professor Oak will come to the lab and unlock National Pokédex composed of 493 Pokémon. This is basically every Pokémon from Gen I to Gen IV. Some Pokémon within the National Pokédex are exclusive versions, which means that some exclusive versions of Pokémon are not listed in Sinnoh Pokédex.
