3 ways to remove music copyright claims on YouTube without demonetizing the video


If you have received a copyright infringement lawsuit on your YouTube video, due to the use of copyrighted music in your video. Giving little authority to the copyright owner, as the owner may either choose to restrict (block) your video in some regions or around the world, or the owner may claim the entire revenue generated from the video. Steps to remove music copyright claims on your YouTube video

YouTube gives you several options to resolve this situation and keep your ad revenue intact. You can choose to cut a segment, replace the copyrighted song, or mute the song by following these steps.

Replace a copyrighted song for a YouTube video

  • Sign up for the YouTube studio.
  • In the left menu, click Content
  • Filter for Copyright.
  • In the “Restrictions” column, hover over “Copyright Request” and click LOOK AT THE DETAILS.
  • Click SELECT ACTION and choose Replace the song.
  • Use search filters to find a new audio track. Click Play to view the songs.
  • When you find a song you like, click ADD. The song will appear in the editor in a blue box.
    • Click and drag the box to change when the song should start.
    • Drag the edges of the box to change the amount of song that is playing.
  • Click Save, and then click Replace.

Mute the protected segment of the YouTube video

  • Sign up for the YouTube studio.
  • Click on the left menu Contents.
  • Filter for Copyright.
  • In the “Restrictions” column, hover over “Copyright Request” and click LOOK AT THE DETAILS.
  • Click SELECT ACTION and choose Mute Song.
  • Here you can either choose to turn off all sound for the set time frame or you can turn off only the song while all other sounds remain intact (this feature is currently in beta).
  • Click Continue, and then click Mute.

Once you’ve made the necessary changes and saved them, YouTube will need some time to process these changes. Once processing is complete, the copyright infringement claim will be removed and your video will be monetized again. To avoid re-entering such situations, check out songs from the YouTube Audio Library or purchase a plan before using copyrighted music from any other audio library.
