We’ve been using Windows 11 on the new Acer machine for a while now and we’ve pulled out some helpful tips. So here are Windows 11 hidden features and tips and tricks you should know!
Move and adjust the taskbar
If you’ve been using the new Windows lately or even following the news of Windows 11, you may know that Microsoft has now moved the taskbar to the middle bottom of the screen. However, Windows 11 also comes with some customizations on the taskbar. Here’s how you can move the taskbar to the left or even to the top with the help of a third-party tool!
1. Open Settings on your Windows 11 computer.
2. Select Personalization from the side menu, then click on the Taskbar.
3. Now scroll and click on the Taskbar Behavior at the bottom.
4. Here you will see an option to align the taskbar, click on the box next to it.
5. Select “Left” from the menu.

Download the entire menu by right-clicking
You may know that in the Windows 11 right-click menu there are very few options compared to the previous ones. Now you either have to click on “Show more options” to see other options like the refresh button or you need to use a shortcut for this.

Create folder shortcuts
You can also create shortcuts to folders and settings in Windows 11 that will be displayed in the home menu next to the power button. Here’s how to add folder shortcuts to the Start menu in Windows 11:
1. Open Settings on your Windows 11 computer.
2. Now go to Personalization and then select Start.
3. On the next page, click Folders.
You will now see a list of settings and folders, just enable the radio button next to the one you want to add a shortcut to and it will be added to the Start menu.
Use voice typing
If your job involves a lot of typing, just like mine, you can now use the voice typing feature in Windows 11 which makes things pretty easy. Voice dictation is supported in every application and software where you need to type. Here’s how to use this feature:
On any application, website or software, just press the Windows and H keys and the voice typing function will be enabled.
Click the Mic button and start speaking and it will be written automatically. You can also use the automatic punctuation feature and it will use commas and periods as you say them.
Restrict access to the camera and microphone
Microsoft has also announced several new privacy features in Windows 11. One such feature is that you can restrict access to the camera and microphone from certain applications and software. Here’s how to check permissions on your Windows 11 PC and restrict them:
1. Open Settings on your computer.
2. Now go to Privacy and Security.
3. Scroll to Application Permissions and here you will find all the permissions that applications may require on your computer.
4. Here, if you want to restrict the camera from any application, just click on Camera.
5. On the next page, turn off the switch next to the application from which you want to restrict the camera.
Snap Windows for multitasking
You can use this new feature for better multitasking on your computer. The Snap Windows feature automatically resizes and arranges all open windows on the desktop. You can easily manage those you work on. To enable Snap windows on your computer:
1. Go to Settings and select Systems.
2. Click Multi-tasking here.
3. On the next page, turn on the Snap Windows features by enabling the switch.
Now on any window, just click on the two squares in the upper right corner and you can select any layout to pin the window.
Just like Android smartphones, Windows 11 now offers a clipboard history. So when you copy something earlier that you need now, this new feature will help you find all the copied text on your computer. Here’s how to use this feature:
On any application or website where you need to paste anything, just press the Windows and V keys and the clipboard will open.
You can now copy the text you previously copied from it. You can also use emojis, GIFs and symbols here.
In addition to the hidden features listed above, there are some keyboard shortcuts that you can use on your Windows 11 PC to take full advantage of its features and improve your productivity. Here are some important keyboard shortcuts for Windows 11:
Windows + W- Widgets
You can press the Windows key and the W key to open the widget menu.
Windows + A- Quick settings
Press the Windows and A keys to open quick settings from where you can access many features such as WiFi, Bluetooth, volume, battery, and more.
Windows + N- Notification History
If you frequently miss notifications on your computer, you can use this shortcut to check your notification history. Just press the Windows and N keys to check the details.
